did they start dropping more inscribables? I've seen one inscribable grape
shadow shield. There are zodiacs, sephis, celestial, magmas etc. How can
you tell where items originate from? Where does an inscribable shadow come
from? HoH? If one showed up over a month ago, why not more? Has anyone else seen them? Maybe I was dreaming. Make everything inscribable, even armor has moved over to the dark side. Still no way to tell if an unided item is inscribed. Why can't this be fixed? Perhaps there are too many complaints? I noticed that fixes come from the minds of the devs not the gamers.

I had a perfect, inscribable shadow bow drop for me from a chest in Domain of Pain.

Other than that, I haven't seen any inscribable items drop in Proph or Factions, but with the implementation of insignias on Proph and Factions armors, to me it's only a matter of time before inscriptions come to Proph and Factions weapons and shields.

Not being able to tell if an item is inscribed or not is not a bug. Just like finding out the bonuses for items requires the use of an ID kit, the same must be done to tell if it's inscribed or not because I think the game considers it no different than items such as staff heads and wrappings.

As far as i know:

Zodiac >> new end Urguz/Deep chest
Celestial >> HoH reward chest i think (not 100% sure)
Sephis axe >> undead in Nightfall have a chance to drop those
Magma shields >> earth born titans in nf as well
dead bows >> any undead in nf really.

They've added a fair few new skins, in both PvP and PvE, so it wouldn't surprised me if they changed stuff (like making a few more skins Inscribable drops from the Deep/Kanaxai chest)

I have a few of Sephis axes, inscribable, max dmg, req 9-13 drop for me when I was farming in NF. All of them were purple and I have yet to see a gold one drop. Inscribable Deadbow also drop in NF, both gold & purple.
